Programme
Women are the backbone of any society, and empowering them leads to the overall development of families, communities, and the nation at large. Despite progress in various spheres, many women, particularly in rural and semi-urban areas of Kolkata, continue to face challenges such as economic dependence, limited access to education, healthcare and a lack of opportunities for skill development. These barriers restrict their ability to contribute meaningfully to the economy and improve their quality of life.
By providing skill training, financial support, and continuous mentorship, the project envisions creating a robust ecosystem where women can thrive economically and socially, thereby setting a foundation for long-term societal transformation of women in Kolkata.
AIM : The primary objective of this project is to empower women in rural and semi-urbanareas of Kolkata by enhancing their skills, confidence, and opportunities to achieve economic independence and social uplifter.
Skill Development Activities
Vocational Training Programs - Training intailoring, embroidery, handicrafts, beauty services, and food processing.
Digital Literacy Workshops - Basic computer skills, online marketing and financial tools like digital payments and e-commerce platforms.
Soft Skills Development - Training in communication, time management, and customer service to improve employability.
Key Objectives
Skill Development and Capacity Building
• Provide vocational training to 500 women in areas such as tailoring, embroidery, handicrafts, beauty services, anddigital literacy.
• Equip women with the knowledge and practical expertise required to gain employment or start micro-enterprises.
Entrepreneurship and Economic Empowerment
• Support 200 women in establishing micro-enterprises through seed funding, mentorship, and training on business management.
• Foster aculture of entrepreneurship among women, enabling them to become job creators rather than job seekers.
Awareness and Education
• Conduct workshops for 1,000 women on health, hygiene, financial literacy, and legal rights.
• Enhance awareness of government welfare schemes and initiatives available for women’s empowerment.
Community Impact and Sustainability
• Create self-sustaining community groups where empowered women mentor and support others in their locality.
• Build ascalable model that canbe replicated in other regions, maximizing the project’s long-term impact.
The project will directly benefit 100 women aged between 18 and 45 years from marginalized and economically weaker sections. These women are primarily homemakers, unemployed youth, or those engaged in low-paying and insecure jobs.
Awareness & Advocacy Activities
Health and Hygiene Workshops - Sessions onmenstrual health, general wellness and accessto affordable health care options.
Education on Legal Rights - Awareness campaigns ongender equality, domestic violence laws, and government welfare schemes.
Financial Literacy Training - Guidance onsavings, creditmanagement, and accessing micro-finance opportunities.
Women Vocational Training
What We Deliver
Tailoring
Our skill-building tailoring course spans a duration of six months, during which four batches are conducted at Yoga Cure Association Center. Upon completion of the course the women are awarded certifications after successful examination. One remarkable aspect of this program is that all the women who undergo training are provided with sewing machines. This provision enables them to immediately start earning and applying the skills they have acquired during the course.
Embroidery
Through our vocational training in sewing and embroidery, women discover their hidden strengths, refine their skills and turn their talents into a dignified livelihood. This journey is not just about learning a craft—it is about rebuilding confidence, creating opportunities and stepping into a life of self-reliance and financial independence. At Yoga Cure Association center we offer a six month embroidery training programme to ensure comprehensive skill development of women.
Handicraft
The handicrafts sector faces a severe shortage of skills and knowledge that can help the sector grow, sustain. To overcome this challenges we at Yoga Cure Association center took the strategy for capacity building through skill development. It is only by imparting the right skills that we help them overcome outdated methods of production, increase productivity, improve quality, packaging and delivery. We focus on empowering them with right knowledge and skills to build competitiveness.
Nursing
Yoga Cure Association continues to support a vocational Training course in nursing aid to promote self-sufficiency amongst underprivileged women, especially girl student dropouts, widows, divorcees and women from BPL segment in and around the villages of Kolkata. The main aim of this programme is to enhance the quality of life of women through increased knowledge and skills. The women need nursing vocational training or skills also to uplift their economic status.
Cooking
Enrolling in Yoga Cure Association culinary arts center will give you the abilities and knowledge required to operate as a cook in the kitchen, such as making food and creating new recipes, keeping the kitchen a safe place to work. Becoming a skilled cook is only one aspect of studying the culinary arts which can improve women life in several ways and provide you the chance to earn and become livlihood. We run traditional cookery programme to empower women by promoting economic independence.
Beautician
Yoga Cure Association beautician program is designed to help women coming from underprivileged backgrounds gain access to employment or create their own businesses through access to courses on hairdressing, make-up, manicure and beauty advice. We play a significant role in the field of economic and social inclusion, for the success of the Beauty training program. Equipped with beauty skills they have a greater chance of getting access to work and forging a career in beauty.
